GENDER EQUALITY AND TRANSFORMATION

Our focus in programme area is to promote gender equality, gender transformation, and advance women empowerment in all facets of political, economic, cultural and social and technological transformation.

In us strive to economic development women and youth, where formal banks aren’t an option, UREA’s savings and loan association groups, financial literacy training, enterprise and market linkages, families, farmers and small businesses succeed.

As part of our holistic approach to free people from poverty, women empowerment and leadership is critical in our programming.  We work with men and boys to engage them in discussions about gender equality and violence so they can become champions of change in their communities. For us it’s about challenging social norms and attitudes to achieve transformative change for women and girls and their communities. The role of boys and men in gender equality work needs to be carefully considered, including through reflection on masculinities

End Gender Based Violence (GBV) and ensuring protection of the rights of women and girls. Globally, one in five girls are denied an education by the daily realities of poverty, violence and discrimination. Every day, girls are taken out of school, married far too young, and subjected to violence. This is a violation of their rights, and a huge waste of potential with serious national and global consequences. Yet we know that investing in girls and women has the potential to transform the lives of entire communities.

Sexual reproductive health and rights. As UREA, strive to promote sexual and reproductive health information and services for adolescents, young people and women of reproductive age. We empower them to demand for quality and affordable reproductive health services and information through school health clubs, and in the communities and promote advocacy.
